Halito (that’s hello in Choctaw)!
My name is Stacy Wells, and I write books for kids and teens.
I like to read. A lot. So much so, my husband and children must constantly remind me of their names and position in the family (I have a habit of confusing them with literary characters). Anne of Green Gables sparked a love of reading that hasn’t let up since third grade. Maybe it’s part nostalgia, or I saw myself reflected in her often-misunderstood character—not to mention Anne’s stubborn, passionate and loyal-to-a-fault nature.
I’m represented by Savannah Brooks at The Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency.
In my day job I am a youth librarian and get to buy books that spark the imagination. At night I get to dream up stories. My favorite stories to write are those that capture everyday moments amidst the struggles of growing up. As a member of the Choctaw Nation my books center on my heritage so Native kids can see themselves authentically as the hero, the villain, and those in between.
I live in Texas with my family, including our red dog named Blu and a playful ferret named Stan.
Chi pisa lachike (until we meet again)!
